Join Dr. Ariele Foster, physical therapist and interdisciplinary yoga teacher since 2001, on her Memorial Day Weekend Yoga Retreat – May 24-27th, 2019 in the hills of Maryland at Blue Mountain Retreat Center, near Harper’s Ferry, WV. This retreat center is located approximately 1.5 hour drive from Washington, DC.
 
Refill the well for your body & spirit with a long weekend away in the Appalachian Mountains. Nourish your whole being with yoga, meditation, extraordinary meals and sunshine.
 
During this sweet Friday-Monday Memorial Day Weekend Yoga Retreat, we will reflect on both our true nature as humans, and get out of the bustle of our everyday lives to spend some time in the rhythm of mother earth. Expect alignment, laughter, and creative, strength-based yoga practices, myofascial release, “functional fitness”, all coupled with simple meditations, mudras and mantras.
 
Retreat price includes:
  • Ample brunches and delicious homemade dinners, mostly vegetarian and vegan-friendly [fish may be offered], organic, with gluten-free friendly options,  organic snacks, coffee / tea / kombucha.  Plenty of snacks will also be available 24/7, and there will be plenty of options if you also choose to have a third full meal. 
  • 6 extended yoga classes (which will include some myofascial release practice and functional fitness) (1.5-2 hours each) and meditation taught by Dr. Ariele Foster (physical therapist and interdisciplinary yoga teacher – E-RYT 500)
  • Lodging (fresh bed linens, quilts and towels provided). You will sleep on ultra comfortable European-style platform twin beds with high quality mattresses
  • Shared bathrooms 
  • Optional bonfire, weather permitting
  • 2 hour Group hike, weather permitting
  • Therapeutic massage available by licensed massage therapist upon request for $75 (appointments made and charged separately, rates subject to change).
Spend your free time being outdoors, hiking, lounging or reading on the wrap-around deck, discovering Harper’s Ferry, treating yourself to therapeutic massage, lounging or acro-yoga’ing in the sun. Enjoy a second yoga class in the late afternoon that will challenge you in new ways.
 
A note on yoga levels and style, for those new to my (Ariele’s) classes. I’ve been teaching yoga since 2001, and am a doctor of physical therapy. This retreat has attracted beginners and advanced practitioners, teenagers and 60-plusers. Without question, I feel comfortable teaching in a way that creates safety and breakthroughs for all levels of practitioners. We are all participating to support one another. The classes will be a mix of challenging and therapeutic. You are always welcome to rest if you need, or to make requests! Friday, May 24th

Arrive any time after 4 p.m.
7 p.m. Opening, Yoga/Myofascial Release Practice
8:30 p.m. Dinner, followed by making Ayurvedic “Golden Milk” – Tumeric-based & sleep-enhancing
Optional: bonfire / card games
 

Saturday, May 25th

8-8:30 a.m. Serve yourself breakfast, coffee, tea
8:30-10 or 10:30 a.m. Morning Yoga Practice
10:30am-Brunch/Lunch + Free Time (massages! walks to the river! hike) 
4:30-6:30 p.m. Evening Practice
6:30 p.m. Dinner, Free time, Bonfire?
 

Sunday, May 26th

8-8:30 a.m. Serve yourself  breakfast, coffee, tea
8:30-10 or 10:30 a.m. Morning Yoga / Functional Fitness Practice
10:30am-Brunch/Lunch + Free Time – Head to Town? – Harper’s Ferry is fascinating and historic, full of great shops
4:30-6:30 p.m. Evening Practice
6:30 p.m. Dinner, Free time, Bonfire?
 

Monday, May 27th

8-8:30 a.m. Serve yourself  breakfast, coffee, tea
8:30-10 or 10:30 a.m. Morning Yoga Practice
10:30am-Brunch/Lunch, Closing Circle + Free Time
Optional Group Hike
 
Snacks will be available 24 hours/day ;). You will also have the option to pack your lunch if you take outings.
 
**Option to take the commuter train into Harper’s Ferry train station – we can help arrange pick-up or drop-off.
 
**Carpooling: we will facilitate carpool arrangements in late April / or May closer to the date so that folks with a car can help offer rides to those without a car.
